A trip down memory lane for the Cheshire Cat
Warrington’s Own Buses’ heritage double-decker took to the road on the Cheshire Cat route as part of the Lymm Historic Transport Day on Sunday 24 June.
Always a Warrington favourite, the 1965 Leyland Titan PD2 took vintage transport enthusiasts to and from Lymm throughout the day.
The vintage bus, which is only put into circulation for special occasions, was built bespoke for Warrington’s narrow lanes when it first operated in the 60s.
Warrington’s Own Buses’ Director of Operations, David Blainey, who played conductor for the day, said: “I had a great day, and I’m glad Warrington’s Own Buses could play its part in what is now a well-respected and hugely popular event in the calendar. We always enjoy getting out into the community and being able to take the double-decker out with us made it all the more entertaining. Our passengers couldn’t believe how much easier the modern buses are to get on compared to the high steps on the vintage double-decker!".
