April 29th 2019 Service Changes

On 29th April, Warrington’s Own Buses will be making changes to a number of services. These changes are as a result of customer feedback, our own observations and new business. The changes to our network better reflect our customers’ travel habits and will ensure that we can deliver a service that is safe, sustainable and reliable. A number of these changes will deliver improvements for customers through improved reliability and frequency, while others will offer a service proportionate to demand.

We’re currently working hard to finalise all our publicity information which will include maps and timetables and these will be available to download from our website soon.

West Warrington

Following a consultation with the public in August 2018 we were asked to provide a simpler network with new destinations and connections to Westbrook & Gemini retail park. We were also challenged to provide competitive pricing. As a result of this services 13, 14/15 and 32 will be changing.

Service 13

Service 13 is extended to serve Sankey Hub and Omega business park. The revised route is shown on the enclosed network map. This opens up new destinations for our passengers, some of whom we are already aware are walking from the terminus to Omega. The service will continue to run at half hourly intervals Monday to Saturday.

Service 14 & 15

These services are merged into a single service, the number 14, to better reflect our customers’ travel habits. Service 14 & 15 also departed the Interchange and Lingley Road at very similar times.

Whilst Stocks Lane is closed the service will temporarily be diverted along Withycombe Road, Barnstaple Road, Honiton Way, Greystone Road, St Mary’s Road and Liverpool road to ensure that Meeting Lane is served.

Evening and weekend services will operate the same route to simplify the network.

Service 31

Unfortunately, due to carrying less than 1 passenger per day this service will be withdrawn.

Service 32

Service 32 becomes the “Blueline” and is changed to serve Widnes Market running at up to 15-minute intervals Monday to Saturday. Some journeys will be diverted to serve Tannery Lane in both directions opening up Widnes Market as a new destination.

Evening and weekend service 30 becomes service 32 and serves the same route as the daytime service as far as Bank Gardens. Customers travelling from Meeting Lane should use either service 14 or the 32 from Warrington Road as alternatives.

Service 33

Service 33 is introduced on a trail basis to link West Warrington to Gemini Retail Park. The service will operate every Thursday from Tannery Lane calling at Penketh, Lingley Green, Sankey and Hood Manor before heading to Gemini Retail Park. If the service is a success we will look to add additional services on other days. Thursday was chosen as it the day that Marks & Spencer have all their new food and clothing offers available.

Cheshire Cat (5, 5a, 6, 7, 8, 8a, 9, 9a & 9b)

Certain journeys across the day are retimed to improve reliability and all journeys are now routed through Centre Park.

Service 22

Service 22 to Vulcan Village is merged with the existing 603 Merseytravel supported service and the route and timetable is changed. The service now goes on from Vulcan Village to serve Newton-le-Willows Hospital, Earlestown, Haydock (through Elizabeth Road), Haydock Industrial Estate, Garswood and on to Ashton-in-Makerfield.

This new service sees the 603 route returning to provide links between Garswood and Newton hospital along with offering new connections for people to travel between Warrington and Haydock Industrial Estate.

Service 62

As a result of Halton Borough Transport reducing their off-peak frequency between Warrington and Runcorn Shopping Centre we have taken the decision to replace these journeys to ensure that all our passengers are able to continue to make journeys every half hour Monday to Friday.

Service 3

Service 3 has been retimed and at peak times the service will operate every 20 minutes instead of every 15 minutes at present. These changes have been made to improve the reliability of the service.

Service 20/21

Service 20/21 departure times have been changed during peak periods. On Monday to Friday service 20 will now run every 10 minutes from 07:05 until 15:13 and then every 15 minutes until 18:08 with the last departure at 18:40. Service 21 will now run every 15 minutes until 09:30 and then every 10 minutes until 18:30. Service 21E continues to provide evening services hourly from 19:00 until 23:00.

On Saturdays both service 20 and 21 will operate every 12 or 13 minutes between 09:00 and 17:45. There is no change to Sunday services 20, 20A, 21 and 21A.

These changes enable passengers to use the service as a circular service and travel through the interchange whilst remaining on the bus.
