Full or Part Time Trainee Bus Driver Vacancies

We support you from the moment we offer you a job!

We will pay for and book your PCV medical, before helping you to complete your provisional PCV licence application form.

Once you receive your provisional PCV licence, we will invite you to join our training school as a trainee bus driver.  The training starts 08:00am - 4:15pm each day for approximately 6 -8 weeks during this time you will receive £15.40 per hour and for the first 3 months once you have passed and are live in service, this will then increase to £17.50 during the week and £20.00 at Weekends. The full cost of the training and associated fees will initially be met by the company.

So, what's involved?

  • Part 1: Theory Test: A two-part test that can be taken on the same day.
    • Multiple Choice: A 1 hour and 55 minute test with a pass mark of 85 out of 100 questions.
    • Hazard Perception: You must watch 19 videos to spot 20 developing hazards, with a pass mark of 67 out of 100.
  • Part 2: Case Studies: An exam based on real-world scenarios and case studies.
  • Part 3: On-Road Practical Test: An on-road driving test evaluating your driving skills.  You must have 12 or fewer driving faults and no serious or dangerous faults.
  • Part 4: Practical Demonstration: A 'show me, tell me' style test where you demonstrate your ability to carry out basic PCV-related tasks and checks.

We will cover the cost of 2 attempts at each of your tests to give you every chance of success with your new career!

Once you gain your full PCV licence, we will put you with an experienced mentor for another 2 weeks to help you learn routes and start to full understand your new job as a Warrington's Own Buses driver.

Our dedicated Training and Wellbeing Coordinator will be on hand to support you during this period to ensure you are fully comfortable before taking the wheel on your own!  The Coordinator will then continue to check in with you for the first 6 months of your new career, providing support and guidance all the way.

Once you are confident to go on your own, your pay will increase to £16.60 per hour Monday to Friday and £19 per hour Saturday and Sunday with opportunity for overtime.

To cover the cost of your training, we will then deduct £15 per week in your first 2 years.  However, after 2 years of loyal service with us, we will refund it all straight back to you as a thank you for staying with us!
