September service changes
Today
On our main network from Sunday 6th September 2026:
- Services 17/17A/17C/18 – we are making big changes to the timetable for these services to improve their reliability throughout the day. Service 18 is withdrawn and replaced by extra services on service 17.
- Service 22 – is being changed to service 322 which is part of the Liverpool City Region METRO network. It will now operate between Warrington and Ashton-in-Makerfield seven days a week including evenings.
Please note: As part of the change to becoming a part of the METRO network, WOB tickets will no longer be valid on the 322 but a wide range of METRO products will be available. Passengers with monthly and annual WOB products will be able to use these on the 322 for one month until 5th October 2026. Weekly WOB products can be used on the 322 for one week until Saturday 12th September.
- Service 22A – is to be withdrawn from 31st October 2026.
- Service 25 – The two journeys that started at Priestley College on Wednesday/Thursday afternoon will now start at Warrington Interchange.
Schools/Colleges from Tuesday 1st September 2026:
- Lymm HS 40 – extended from Stretton to start at Grappenhall Lodge. It will then follow the route of service 42 as far as Appleton Thorn.
- Lymm HS 42 – service is withdrawn. See service 40 for partial replacement from Grappenhall Lodge to Appleton Thorn.
- Sir Thomas Boteler HS 43 – Minor retiming and it is rerouted to run along Stockport Road instead of Thelwall Lane.
- Hope Academy 49 – renumbered to 249. No changes to timetable.
- St Gregory’s HS 254 – this route will now be run by WOB (previously MD Bus & Coach) from Bold – St Gregory’s HS with no changes to timetable or fares. Touch&Go can now be used on this service.
- Penketh HS 263 – this route will now run with one double decker. The second single deck bus will no longer run.
- Cardinal Newman HS 286 – the early finish on every second Tuesday is no longer happening and all afternoon buses will run at normal time.
- Priestley College – WOB will be operating all services to Priestley College from September 2026 and there will be some changes to the network. Service P3 is introduced and services P5A/P8/P18 are now withdrawn. All P-services will depart at 15:45 on a Wednesday and Thursday.
- WVR services – the early finish every Wednesday is no longer happening and all afternoon buses will run at normal time.
- Single fares on services 39, 39A, 40, 40B, 41, 41A, 42A, 43, 70, 249, 263 and 286 will be rising by 10p from September 2026.
