Closure of Cromwell Avenue

4th - 17th Jun 2026

We have been informed by WBC that Cromwell Avenue from its junction of Canons Road to Sankey Way will be closed due to road repairs from Monday, 11th May 2026 for up to three weeks.

From Monday, 18th May 2026, for up to 6 week, the closure of the Cromwell Avenue/Westbrook Crescent/Ladywood junction for resurfacing.
Both the closures will be in place from 1900 until 0100 on Monday to Friday evenings. (Sat & Sun as normal)
Service is to divert as follows:
Service 17
Towards Callands: as normal route to then operate directly along Sankey Way to (R) Whittle Avenue then (R) Westbrook Crescent to “Odeon Cinema” roundabout, circumnavigate, and then Europa Boulevard and normal route back to “Odeon Cinema” roundabout, circumnavigate, and then Westbrook Crescent, (L) Whittle Avenue and then as reverse of outbound diversion.

Closure of Cromwell Avenue/Callands Road roundabout

Service 17/17C – Road Closure Junction of Cromwell Ave & Callands Road roundabout
Thursday, 18th June 2026 – 1900 to 0100
We have been informed by WBC that roundabout at the junction of Cromwell Avenue and Callands Road will be closed between 1900 and 0100 from Thursday, 18th June 2026 for up to 4 weeks as and when signed.
The closure will be in place from 1900 until 0100 on Monday to Friday evenings. (Sat & Sun as normal)
Service is to divert as follows:
Service 17/17C
Service will operate as normal to Europa Boulevard “Ikea roundabout” then return to Westbrook via Cromwell Avenue and Westbrook Crescent. Unfortunately we will not be able to serve the top end of Europa Boulevard or Callands Road.

Closure of Bold Street - Sankey Gateway Development

Sankey Gateway – Road Closure Bold Street

Monday to Friday All Day

Services C47, 1, 2, 5, 12, 25 ,28, 28A, 42A, 62, 62A, 96, P18

We have been informed by W. B. C. that Bold Street will be closed on Monday to Fridays from Tuesday, 26th May 2026 for up to 11 weeks for the Sankey Gateway development.

Bold Street will be open on Saturday and Sunday - Services will operate as normal routes.

As a result, the outbound journeys on the services above will be required to divert during the closure times.

Service is to divert as follows:

Services C47, 1, 12, P18, 42A, 62 & 62A
Will operate from Warrington Interchange via Scotland Road exit then Scotland Road, Academy Street, and Mersey Street to Bridgefoot then as normal route.

Service 96
Will operate from Warrington Interchange via Scotland Road exit then Scotland Road, Academy Street, Mersey Street and Bridgefoot to Wilson Patten Street then as normal route.

Services 2, 25, 28 & 28A
Operate from Warrington Interchange via Scotland Road exit then Scotland Road, Academy Street, and Buttermarket Street then as normal route.

Temporary bus stops are in place on Buttermarker Street and Academy Street.
