Keeping 2026 Fares Below National £3 Cap
We will be adjusting our fares for journeys from 1st January 2026.
This change follows the removal of government funding for the current £2 and £1 capped fares scheme, which has kept prices artificially low.
Warrington Will Have Lower Fares Than The National £3 Cap
Even with these adjustments, local bus fares will remain much lower than the national £3 cap, ensuring great value for customers. Within Warrington, the single fare will be £2.50 for adults and £1.50 for children aged 5-15 (not including school buses).
Warrington Own Buses Will Freeze The Prices For Day, Weekly & Four Weekly Tickets for Adults
Affordable travel is important for the community. That’s why Warrington's Own Buses are once again freezing the prices of day, week, and four week tickets bought on the bus/on the app, continuing a commitment upheld for many years, benefiting regular travellers.
New Young Persons’ Bus Club
To make travel even more accessible, a 'Young Persons’ Bus Club' is being introduced. Available only through the 'Touch & Go' app—providing extra savings for younger passengers, with a £1.50 ticket available for those aged under 21. It is very similar to a Young Persons’ Railcard. Please register and purchase this before travelling.
A Message from Our Managing Director
Ben Wakerley, Managing Director of Warrington’s Own Buses, said:
“Due to the ending of the current capped fare funding, WOB has to change the fares. The company has acted to keep fares as low and as simple as possible, including frozen day, week and four week tickets and a new ‘Young Persons’ Bus Club’ that can be bought using our app.”
